After many years of illustration I took a different path in painting.

This time I chose to explore something less based in the world, and more in imagination.

My  acrylic paintings involve a complex layering process of washy paint dispersion in a backward method. I begin painting the layer one would view first, and then build into the depth of the background. Each layer takes several days to dry before the next one is added. I sometimes layer painted sheets to complete the work.

The oil paintings also involve a layering method. I begin with very thinned paint, covering the canvas, and again letting the layers dry before adding another. I begin picking out fluid abstractions as the process progresses.

I am quite interested in pushing the bounds of form and materials, and my viewer is at liberty to take from my work whatever they experience. Hopefully it will be something beyond their reach, but within their soul....
